Thanks a lot for the info. I just called, too. Get the appointment I want. They need receipt number for I797. Remember to have it with you when calling.
Thanks guys, for sharing the info. The date I want is still not available, but I am glad it's finally starting. Quick questions:
1) Do we have to hand write our names, telecodes, and addresses in Chinese on the DS-160 confirmation page?
2) Do we need to glue the print picture on the 160 page (I uploaded the electronic copy so the confirmation page has the printout of the pic)?
3) Do we need to glue the visa fee receipt to 160, or not? The Consulate site has contradictory info.
4) I have two I-94s (the white card I got at customs has expired, the current one is on my 797 page). When I leave the US, do we need to submit both, or just one of them (which)?
I called just now and the lady said 12/9 is also available. Not what I want but if it fits your schedule, make an appointment as soon as possible, esp. in light of the stupid new visa appointment procedure effective 11/15 :-(

Seriously, WTF?!!! I may have to cancel my trip if I can't get the date I want. This is a total nightmare since I've already spent 1600+ for air tickets. Aaaarrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!
Looks like they are having fun giving us hard time. Honestly speaking, nowadays, things have really changed. Not that many Chinese want to come to US, but I know a few americans that want to work in China. Things will keep changing. But, of course, Chinese government of course won't give them a hard time just because they give us a hard time. Instead, Chinses goverment just joins them to give us a hard time. Chinese are not treated well anywhere. How should this be changed? I really don't know.
