It's hard to get a ticket around that returning time. The latest ticket avaible date is 2/6. And my father woudl like to go back until the busy time around Spring festival (2/3) is over to go back.
Anyway, will the airport officer at the board entrance chanllenge my father when he arrive?
then come later, say after 9/1. this will also help you get cheaper tickets.
no, airport officer doesn't care how long your father want to stay, he will just give a date and your father is supposed to leave before that date. that is it.

don't make it so tight. you will have a lot of trouble if the plane is delayed by snow or something.
