It may not be a problem most likely. My mother stayed for six months, and then went back to China for the Chinese New Year. She re-rentered U.S. after 30 days, and got six months. I also worried before her re-entry. She said the custome officer did not ask her any question after seeing the returning ticket (six months after).
LZ's case is a little bit different. Her mom will be on her third entry with the same visa. The total stay is seven months. My mother in law was warned when she re entered for the second time.
But with a letter to the immigration officer it should be not a big problem.

Generally, your parents should have been stayed in China longer than they have stayed in US since they were issued a visa.
It might be or not be a problem. From both embassy when they apply new visa and USCIS when they enter US. I will say be careful.
