OMG, your parents come to the US for the first time, and you ask them to transfer twice just because the plane tickets are cheaper??? what a bastard! I feel sorry for your parents.

different people have different situation. you do not know much about him/her, so do not be too harsh.

FYI, there's no non-stop flight between PEK and IAH. They need to transfer at least once no matter what. What's the big fuss?!
