just go to the airline company's website. for example, if UA, go to http://www.united.com click itineraries and check in on the top navigation. then follow the steps. it requires Confirmation or e-ticket number.
check this page before you assign seat. it may give you some advice on seating.

有些时候代理不能在出票的时候分配座位，正常。
你可以打电话给UA要确定座位(也不一定肯定可以确定)。或者在网上自己分座位。再有就是起飞那天到机场check in的时候要座位了。

我都网上选择座位的，从来不用电话。
记得选择靠近厕所+走道+紧急出口。最抢手要赶快。
