If you get F2 visa, after you come to U.S. you need to change to F1 visa at the international student office anyway, before you register for class, which will take longer, and no guaranteed time line.
Also, if you have assistantship from the school, getting a F1 visa has tax benefit.
Pay attention if you apply for F1, the documents you need to prepare is totally different from F2. You should know this already.

同意天使的,签F1,美国境内转太麻烦了,要好几个月,很难熬得。现在签证形势还是蛮好的,材料准备好都可以过得,祝你顺利通过 :)

您的情况应该是签F1签证。以前拿到的F2签证对您是有利的。现在就要进入学生F1签证的高峰期了,一般材料合格的都是秒过。好好准备,祝你顺利通过!
