You should, just in case! That's what I did. Send them an email with your I-797 copy attached. In this way, you will receive confirmation reply. Also just a friendly reminder, bring a copy of the PIMS confirmation email with you to the visa interview.

when i make an appointment for interview, i asked miss operator about that. she said they don't have this kind of policy. that's only my advice.
